Zentangle in two words is “Meditative Artform”. It is an an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. We call these patterns, tangles. You create tangles with combinations of dots, lines, simple curves, S-curves and orbs. These simple shapes are the "Elemental Strokes" in all Zentangle art. These patterns are drawn on small pieces of paper called "tiles." We call them tiles because you can assemble them into mosaics.

Zentangle art is non-representational and unplanned so you can focus on each stroke and not worry about the result. There is no up or down to Zentangle art. If fact, you can most easily create Zentangle art by rotating your tile as you tangle -- always keeping your hand in a relaxed position. You don't need to know what a tangle is going to look like to draw it. You just need to know the steps. The result is a delightful surprise.

How Does It Work?

The Zentangle Method works because it is simple, fun and effective and it helps you get out of your own way. There are no mistakes, no preplanned outcomes, yet the result is unexpected and beautiful . . . and all this occurs with gratitude and appreciation.

It also enables you to deliberately access a state of relaxed focus, wake up your imagination and express it creatively with confidence. According to many anecdotes, the physical, mental and emotional benefits of this are significant. You focus on each immediate stroke without worrying about what to do next or what the end result will be. You discover you know what to do when the time comes to do it.

How did I start?

In 2017 when I had free time, a thought came through to learn art to fulfill my dream.  When exploring different art forms on social media I chanced upon term Zentangle and some images . The black patterns on white paper immediately caught my attention and I researched more about this art. To begin with I wasn't confident that I will be able to do this art but after couple of tries I gained confidence after which I took my first class from a CZT. Well, what can I say, that one class changed my life!! I was completely hooked on. Zentangle was just perfect for me… I could sit anywhere and do art while taking care of my boys. I was creating some fun, interesting and intricate artworks. Through continuous support and encouragement from my family and friends and with their compliments I felt accomplished. Slowly I started exhibiting my works and met new artists through these exhibits and built a network of new art friends. The more I tangled, the urge to meet the founders of this art and learn from them grew and made a decision to become CZT(Certified Zentangle Teacher).

In the summer of 2018 I travelled to Rhode Island, USA  from India to attend 30th CZT seminar. It was an amazing experience to meet the founders and learn from them the patterns and techniques. I explored more  about zentangle and made world wide artist friends.
